Membership

SCMA membership is open as follows:
Associate Membership is open to anyone having an interest in the field of mediation advocacy including academics. Associates will have the benefit of access to the full members' pages of the FMA website, the e-newsletter, the journal, and discounted training and other benefits, but will not be held out by SMCA as mediation advocates (i.e. qualified practitioners), will not be marketed by reference to SCMA certifying their CPD and practice experience, and will not have a member's hyperlink to their own site or access to a homepage promoting their activities.

Academic Membership is open to full time faculty and research members of academic institutions. In addition to the benefits available to Associates academic members will in due course have access to a dedicated academic chatroom.

Full and Charter Corporate Membership are open to individuals and firms who are able to show a minimum of 10 hours relevant training or CPD training per annum from bodies accredited to either members' home professions or by the Civil Mediation Council, together with a minimum of 10 professional hours billed while engaged in mediation advocacy or mediation practice, defined as Qualifying Activities. Full members and Charter Corporate Members will be marketed as practising mediation advocates and will have a formatted homepage with a member's hyperlink to their own site or an individual blog promoting their relevant activities. SCMA will produce marketing material promoting its membership both regionally and according to the expertise and experience of its members; it will maintain its own register of CPD to be able to verify training activities. The website, e-newsletter and Journal will carry advertising for members, and training and other relevant products for members. Full members will be able to describe themselves as 'SCMA Mediation Advocate'.

Charter Corporate Membership will enable firms and corporate practices to name up to six individuals to be marketed as mediation advocates and to have individual CPD monitored and verified. Charter Corporate Members will be able to use the SCMA logo on their letterheads and websites.
