The Standing Conference of Mediation Advocates is a member trade association concerned with

• creating and maintaining a quality threshhold for those who represent others in mediation
• training representatives - whether they be lawyers or other professionals - in the techniques of non-adversarial advocacy in mediation which best serve the interests of their clients 
• accrediting member training to ensure that consumers using mediation have the best available representation
• offering an understanding of mediation in all its processes and models so that disputants have access to the most appropriate model and mediator to help them resplve their dispute
• promoting and developing the practices of its members
• widening the awareness and appreciation of consumers and of commerce of the benefits of mediation generally as a sophisticated and dynamic dispute resolution process which is a viable alternative to litigation 
• developing mediation as a method of conflict avoidance, not just conflict management and dispute resolution

The SCMA works in the UK and internationally through individual and corporate members.
