Training & EventsSCMA delivers workshops and seminars in commercial mediation practice, advocacy skills and tactics, the psychology of negotiation, and practical negotiation techniques, and provides in-house tailored training to companies, firms and chambers for defined mediation and conciliation schemes. SCMA actively promotes and disseminates information on the activities of other professional institutional or commercial providers of relevant training and education which are qualifying activities for SCMA membership and CPD requirements. A running diary of events appears both on this page for SCMA training events and on the Noticeboard for more general information. Members have access to training by video streaming and podcast. Members are also able to access a resource library of law, precedents and documents, articles and commentary by both practitioners and academics. SCMA undertakes modestly priced in-house training for accreditation in mediation advocacy and negotiation skills, and designs bespoke courses for companies, local authorities, educational institutions, firms and sets of chambers on request. The SCMA is an accredited advocacy training provider to the Bar Standards Board, ILEX, and RICS, and provides training for local Law Societies and member firms. We have provided accredited training to barristers' chambers in London, Bristol, Oxford, Winchester, Bournemouth, Exeter, Leeds and Liverpool, and to solicitors and other professionals in London, Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle and Edinburgh. We offer training during working hours, in the evenings and at weekends to suit the needs of practitioners. In 2009 we accredited training in Dubai, Hong Kong, Paris and Brussels. In 2010 we added Ankara and Lagos to our destinations.
